It’s Release Day!

This day has finally arrived! I’m so excited to finally see In The Devil’s Arms released. Many many months of blood, sweat, and yes, quite a few tears, have paid off. This book is very near and dear to me for a lot of reasons, especially the people who inspired it, and encouraged me to keep going, even when I was ready to give it all up. And I quite literally was ready to give up the dream of seeing myself published again. Not only that, but this book inspired my current WIP, and spurred plans for another book or two in the Magiste community in New Orleans. The Magiste, which is the term encompassing various types of magical people, are everywhere, as I am finding out through some new characters who’ve recently introduced themselves to me. 🙂

Back to In The Devil’s Arms – I can’t stop staring at the cover. It is simply gorgeous, when I first saw it, it left me breathless. I’m getting silly about it, too, I think. I’ve printed a few copies to place around my various work areas, and even downloaded it to my phone. Fiona Jayde is an amazingly talented artist. If you haven’t seen it yet, here it is:

And the blurb:

“Helene Gaudet is finally free of her past – a rageful ex-husband whose curse has left her unable to have children. Helene shares those past agonies with no one – certainly not with a Marchand.

Her lonely life is upended when she encounters who she believes is her perfect Dom in an internet chat room. To her shock, her Dom is none other than Devlin Marchand, the very person who handed her over to a dark sorcerer to be killed.

Yet, Devlin proves himself to be a loving Master, and lust and love grow with each tormenting, releasing, encounter. But guilt over his past betrayal is multiplied when he learns the curse that has dogged his lover for years comes from the trove of magic created by his very own family. Devlin fears all he has built with Helene will be destroyed.

Can they overcome the past to have a future together?”

As my critique partners and friends all know, I love playing in alternate worlds, or realities, or planets. Magic is one of my favorite alternates, because I love how it can be used in so many ways. I’m also partial to vampires, and am trying to figure a way to blend the two again, as I did in The Taste of Magic. There are some ideas brewing, but I am trying to keep it to just notes until I finish Healing The Mage (for my critique partners, that’s Lily & Aidan). Harry Potter and Charmed are two of my favorite obsessions, as well as Highlander, which is an alternate reality as well. And a longtime favorite that is inspiring another set of characters is Dragon Ball Z, one of the most popular Japanese anime series from the 1980’s & 90’s. The recent remastering for the 25th anniversary has revved up my love for this show, especially those nasty Saiyan warriors, Vegeta and Raditz. Yes, I freely admit, I am partial to the bad boys and villains! I’m also starting to dip my toes into the True Blood pool, I’m sure it won’t be long before that takes up a permanent space in my favorite things list. Like I need another obsession to take up my time.

So in celebration of the release, I am giving away copies of In The Devil’s Arms randomly to two commenters to this post. So comment here and share your favorite magical stories, or recommendations. Or simply say hello!

In the meantime, pop over to Noble Romance and take a look at some of their other titles as well. Every one I’ve read is hot, hot, HOT! Here’s the link:

  1. Hi Gianna!
I must admit, I'm not a fan of magic and alternate worlds, although I do at times read light paranormal. But I am a fan of you. Congrats on your release. Wishing you all good things!

  2. Hello J,
I couldn't withstand the chance to get a copy of this fabulous story about HG/DM. 😉
I really like(d) some books by Laurell K. Hamilton (early Anita Blake, Merry Gentry) or 'On the Edge' by Ilona Andrews. Oh, and lets not forget the HP series.
    Love Mareen

  3. Congrats on your new release! I have to say I love reading paranormals and think it might be fun to try writing one at some point. Not now…but someday maybe. I'd definitely focus on magic too. So interesting and diverse. You can do anything if there's magic involved!! I highly recommend True Blood. It's so good, but so gory!

  4. I thought I lived in the present until a moment in time crashed through, my life endangered. My long deceased mother made her presence known behind my left side and stayed until I returned. But first I had to journey alone and make the decision to live. True story; no vampires, no alternate worlds; just a young woman changed forever and open to the white light.

I'm one of your fans, Gianna.

  5. Thanks Mareen. I think HP inspired me to some extent, not that my world can compare to JKR's rich universe. But it's definitely fun to get lost in other realities, too bad I can't do it more than I already do!

  6. Thanks Heather. The best thing about a paranormal is that you can make the people and events do what you want all on a whim, if you like. There really are no rules, leaving endless options for just about anything you can think of!

  7. Thanks Charmaine. That sentiment is very strongly returned. 😉

Amazing how things can influence us, even if we don't fully understand the how or why. That's why I love magic, it's real, it's just a matter of being open to it and letting it weave its spell.

  8. Hi Gianna,
As a fellow Noble author, I wanted to stop by and tell you the blurb for this book sounds wonderful. Much luck and your cover is gorgeous! Fiona does a wonderful job, doesn't she?

    Brita Addams/Tina Ordone

  9. Thanks Brita! Fiona is amazing, I agree 1000% with that. I've been silly with it too, printing out copies and leaving them where I can see it at any moment! LOL!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Congratulations from a fellow NRP author! Noble has absolutely amazing covers and yours is definitely one of them. The story sounds wonderful – much success with this one, hon!

  11. This so wonderful. I am so happy for you that you have this book out for the everyone to get to know you through your writing. I am not sure as to when I will be able to purchase this book, but as soon as I do and read it. I will send you my feelings on it. If you can believe it I had not touched any books for some years. The last ones I had read were from the V.C. Andrews collection. Then Harry Potter came along and my reading started up again. Once I found ff related to HP I was hooked again. I am not trying to make excuses for not purchasing your book already it is just not possible for me to indulge myself like that right now. Good luck with it and I look forward to seeing more books from you out on sale.

  12. Thanks Alina. Wow, VC Andrews, I remember when Flowers in the Attic came out, I was in high school and the entire school devoured it, anxiously waiting for more. I pretty much stopped after the initial series she wrote was done, though. HP I know I could continue to read if JKR wrote more of them. A fantastic world and something to strive for! 🙂

No worries about buying the book – there'll be more opportunities to get your hands on one! Good luck!

  13. Hooray, release day! Would have commented sooner but sick as a dog (pardon the cliche) – anyway I LOVE the cover and would be just as obsessed. When my first book finally released, I did the same thing. I put a book in every room in my apartment and kept staring at my name and the cover. It's so exciting and the culmination of your hard work. You are such a talented author I am so happy for you and can't wait to get my hands on the story! Hope to see you next Saturday.

  14. Congrats on your new release, Gianna! I remember one of my notes to you when I beta-read it was something along the lines of “this is so good, I'm not sure why it hasn't been picked up yet?” LOL Glad Noble agreed with me. Best of luck. I'm popping over to buy it right now so you don't need to enter me in the contest 😉
